what is up with this?
i work my butt off training as hard as i can but it takes me several days to recover after every race. the last one took me 5 days to feel normal again.
more seat time should help. better weather is here so i guess i will ride more often.
does anyone else feel my pain?

I hear ya Bill. I think that racing just beats you so much that it takes a while for your body to recover. I dont know of any exercise that can imitate a race. Thats why everyone says to get into shape is to ride, ride ,ride.

Chris Miller, (VET A) uses something called Cytomax (spelling?) He drinks it before, during, and after the race and he says he isn't sore at all. He is 38 or 39. Oh, he also has completed the P90X routine.
Bill, we are all old, we just have to come to terms with it.

I'm usually sore for atleast a good 3days after racing so yes i feel your pain!!! The biggest thing that I have found to help is to do cardio the day after w/ alot of stretching. Not too hard of cardio tho...

try Jack3d you get it at GNC and it works awesome for recovery. I'm a little sore after races now but not near what i use to be. That stuff has been a blessing for me moving to the afternoon at the nationals.

your diet the week before a race, fully hydrateing, and your diet after the race does alot. as long as you are sore after everyworkout you shouldnt be that bad after a race. the older you are also slows recovery down. I never tried any of that recovery drink so idk if it works or not..

I work out and take many suppliments and vitamins. a key factor is recovery is L-Glutamine. It help rebuild broken down muscle and recovery time. I take a lot of this along with Amino Acids before and after a race.

I swear by Cytomax® Performance Plus Ready-To-Drink. I put 2-3 bottles in my camelbak plus
I take MotoXFuel to reduce/eliminate arm pump. Just be sure to take a minute and flush out your camelbak with fresh water.
I'm 48 and usually my only exercise is racing 1-2 times month. Couple weeks ago we had back-to-back race Sat and Sun. I did both and went to work Mon with very little muscle ache.
